Objective
From the beginning, Volvo decided to focus on safety as one of its core values. It is the pioneer of many of the safety measures that have changed the automobile world. I wanted to create a visual interactive story that tells Volvo's contribution to the evolution of car safety and the establishment of industry standards.

Solution
To chronicle Volvo’s innovations since 1959 until today, I wanted to refine the dense textual and technical information and convert it into an easy to read, simple, and highly responsive infographic. Color palette, typography, imagery, and logo were considered through the design process according to Volvo’s brand guidelines. The layout uses a timeline structure that highlights the year when a particular technological safety achievement was conceived. When one clicks on the icon that represents the year, an accordion reveals a dedicated section with the title, concise explanation, and an illustration of the invention.
The illustration demonstrates the functionality of the safety technology using only a color hierarchy. Overall one important design consideration that I executed in this project is minimalism. It stands for one of the Scandinavian core values of design.
